Orfanado is a project started in 2008 by Alessandro De Zan and Riccardo Mazza in Conegliano, a small village in the northern Italian region of Veneto. They have released two albums: Sete (2009, Holidays Records) and Iter (2011, Sound of Cobra). Labels such as “etnho”, “avant-folk” or “psych-folk” can only give a hint of a music made with percussions, acoustic guitars, wind instruments and electronics; but we might as well say that what Orfanado creates is a calming yet liberating sound which is essentially unclassifiable.
